Abstract Beginning from an analysis of some characteristics of social movements, this article aims to analyze the possible negative consequences of certain “communication determinism” on social movements’ actions and structures. It also aims to present a point of view that would allow avoiding these positions, and then to consider communication in relation with all the other dimensions of the social change processes.
