Abstract

La imposibilidad mestiza en La nación clandestina. Construcciones emblemáticas en el cine de Jorge Sanjinés*. Punto Cero [online]. 2007, vol.12, n.15, pp.51-58. ISSN 1815-0276.

In this article the author analyzes the critical representation of the mestizaje that the Bolivian  film director Jorge Sanjinés presents in his film, The clandestine nation (1989). It is claimed in the film, which fundamentally expresses the concern for the construction of the cultural Bolivian nation, that the mestizaje -as social category- is surpassed and rather found  to be holding on to an impossibility.  On the contrary, the film shows a nation founded on the “Andean essence” that Sanjinés tries to also reinforce not only with the film´s argument but also with the narrative models that he applies and that affirm his  political-ideological position.

Keywords : Cinema; Mestizaje; Nation.
