Abstract Cultural studies has gone through a series of transformations in its methodology of approach to the objects of research. These allow observing how certain core categories, such as the notion of criticism, have changed in meaning according to paradigm changes and the challenges of cultural globalization. From the basis of this perspective, a map to approach cultural and communication phenomena, including elements of the new global contexts and rescuing core categories such as work and imagination, is attempted to be drawn.
