Abstract
Bolivia: el conflicto multicultural y la construcción de las diferencias. Punto Cero [online]. 2006, vol.11, n.13, pp.17-24. ISSN 1815-0276.
Abstract This article is written from a communicational and cultural perspective. It attempts to understand the processes involved in the construction of political, social, cultural and communicational differences articulated by the main contemporary debates on the emergence of multiple identities, the reaffirmation of own vernacular values and the global realities that take place in daily life, held by the media. The debate starts by attempting to glean on the different conceptualizations which, throughout anthropological and communicational studies, have tried to address the concept of culture to arrive at a more sensitive debate: that of identities. In considering both aspects, we enter into the main discussion of the essay, which allows analyzing what factors are involved in the social construction of difference, confronted by symbolic, cultural and communicational battles, where these symbolic clashes and local resistances allow the deepening of differences and where the process of economic and cultural globalization tries to generate a kind of new significance, production and consumption of the social and cultural life that at the same time reproduces new forms of difference and resistance.
