The article questions about the sites assigned to culture and knowledge and its relationship with the hegemonic roles of nation-states in the contemporary global capitalism context. In order to do so, it analyzes the traditional understandings of culture and the requireof a new critical conceptualization of these. It also reconsiders the placing and significance of knowledge and ideology as part of the globalized capitalistic productive system. With this background, the author questions if such cultural replacement and centralized knowledge have effectively transformed the capitalistic accumulation processes. Furthermore, it questions about the nation-states lost of hegemony facing the current economical and cultural internationalization processes. At the end of the article is intended an answer to the initial question trying to articulate the contemporary debate that favors the ideological and symbolical dominating mechanisms and the cultural submission to the social class domination that remains inside the nation-states. All of this, from the need of some social sciences that would retake their critical and transforming glance of reality.
