ORMACHEA SALCEDO, Peggy; CALLISAYA HUAHUAMULLO, Juan y SALCEDO ORTIZ, Lily. Assessment hemocytometer max 740 in the determination of haematological parameters. BIOFARBO [online]. 2011, vol.19, n.1, pp. 64-67. ISSN 1813-5363.
A validation study was performed through the assessment of 100 haematological tests (Hematocrit, white blood cell count and differential) obtained by the Coulter Max 740, to determine their efficiency as a routine method using as a parameter control manual method of observation. This automated method showed high sensitivity (100%) in all parameters except for the study of leukocytosis which got 53.3% and specify a higher than 80% in all parameters evaluated. We found low positive predictive value (PPV) in all parameters, being the lowest for basofília with 16.7% and 21.7% with eosinophilia, the only one that got 100% was the parameter of leukocytosis. The negative predictive value (NPV) was 100% for all parameters except for leukocytosis which got 92.4%. The automated counter blood, showed low specificity in the hematological parameters evaluated.
