    Resumen

SALCEDO ORTIZ, Lily  y  ALMANZA VEGA, Giovanna Rocio. Use of Baccharis latifolia (Chilca) in La Paz, Bolivia. BIOFARBO [online]. 2011, vol.19, n.1, pp. 59-63. ISSN 1813-5363.

A descriptive study based on two surveys, one addressed to the general population and the other for professional physiotherapists, showed that the species Baccharis latifolia, commonly know as Chilca, is a medicinal plant well used in the La Paz city, Bolivia, to dismiss external inflammation. The survey in the general population included 500 people, from which about 70% said that they have used Chilca in inflammatory processes, mainly as a poultice. On the other hand, from 104 professional physiotherapists that were surveyed, 48% use chilca as a topical treatment for inflammatory processes and as a analgesic.

Palabras llave : Baccharis latifolia; Chilca; Anti-Inflammatory; Traditional Medicine; Physiotherapy; La Paz-Bolivia.
