Abstract
ROCABADO CALIZAYA, Guillermo et al. Isolated and identification of a new alkaloid from species Lepidium meyenii Walpers. BIOFARBO [online]. 2011, vol.19, n.1, pp. 8-14. ISSN 1813-5363.
The species Lepidium meyenii Walpers traditionally known as "maca", typical of the High Andean región of Bolivia, Perú and Chile, are widely used due to its health giving properties, qualities attributed to the complexity of its chemical components, which are the base of the present research. The study of the hexane extract of L. meyenii provided a yield of 2.35% and treatment with methanol of the hexane fraction resulted in a final yield of 0.45%. This was subject to chromatography in order to characterize and identify the presence of alkaloids and Alcamides, which are characteristic of the Brassicaceae family. For the chromatographic fractionation, various techniques were used: silica gel columns (40-63 microns), and preparative plates LH-20. For identification of the isolated fraction, called G-2, instrumental methods such as NMR-C13, H1 NMR, NMR-DEP, COSY, HMBC, HMQC, MS, IR and Elemental Analysis were used. The determined chemical structure of the compound, up to date not isolated, had not been identified previously in any natural source, and to the best of our knowledge this is the first time it is described in L. meyenii.
