Abstract

LAVADENZ MORALES, Roberto. NONINVASIVE REVERSAL OF ATRIAL FLUTTER USING AN IMPLANTED DUAL CHAMBER PACEMAKER. Rev. Méd. La Paz [online]. 2026, vol.32, n.1, pp.53-56.  Epub Mar 31, 2026. ISSN 1726-8958.

We present three patients with dual-chamber pacemakers, two due to sick sinus syndrome and one due to complete AVblock. During their evolution, atrial flutter developed, which was reversed using the noninvasive programmed pacing program, which consists of applying atrial overdrive pacing by the pacemaker in frequency cycles lower than those of the arrhythmia cycle.

In all three cases, atrial flutter was reversed without complications. Previously transesophageal echocardiography ruled out, the presence of intracavitary thrombi.

It is concluded that the conversion of atrial flutter to atrial overdrive pacing by dual-chamber pacing is an easy, safe, and rapid method that does not require anesthesia.
