We present the case of an infected urachal diverticulum in a 68-year-old patient who presented with recurrent urinary infections, resistant to treatment, which required various laboratory and imaging studies, where an infected urachal diverticulum was found. with subsequent excision and success in the treatment of the urinary infection. In this way, i carried out the review on the association of these pathologies.
Diseases of the urachal remnant are rare, they are divided into 4 types according to their involution and length, the urachal diverticulum comprises between 1.5-3% of urachal pathologies and are usually incidental findings, except in cases of complications such as stones., adenocarcinoma or recurrent urinary infections, which require ultrasound or tomography studies which give us the diagnosis, in order to carry out a correct treatment.
