Abstract

TOCO OLIVARES, Igor Gonzalo  and  CALLISAYA VILLACORTA, Mijail Marcelo. EMPIEMA SUBDURAL: SERIE DE CASOS Y REVISIÓN DE LA LITERATURA. Rev. Méd. La Paz [online]. 2019, vol.25, n.1, pp.36-43. ISSN 1726-8958.

Subdural empyema is an infected collection that occurs between the dura mater and the arachnoid, accounting for 15% to 20% of localized intracranial infections; It has a high morbidity and mortality rate, so early diagnosis / treatment are key to an adequate functional / vital prognosis, taking into account the neurological focus, sensory alteration, fever, headache and vomiting as parameters of high suspicion. We present a series of cases that, as mentioned in the literature, are a consequence of the lack or inadequate management of adjacent or systemic infectious pathology in an economically affected population.

Keywords : empyema; brain infection; focalization.
