Abstract

The tabaquismo is at the present time an addictive illness, chronicle, recurrent and tratable, being the fírst cause of avoidable morbimortalidad in the world. Objective: Determine the motivation frequency to stop to smoke and the alteration in the lung function in active smokers of the Policlínica 9 of April of the National Box of Health, city of La Paz, in the second semester of 2008. Design methodological Study type: I study observational, I design traverse, descriptive. Study area: Policlínica 9 of April of the National Box of Health. Universe: 641 people active smokers that attended consultation of Neumología in the second semester of the administration 2008. It shows: Probabilistica, 77 people of an universe of 641 people active smokers. Instruments of gathering of data: Interviews structured of data sociodemográfícos, Test of motivation of Richmond. Results: Active smokers with high motivation to stop to smoke 32 (42%) followed by the drop motivation to stop to smoke 24 (31%), for espirometría the predominant pattern is the obstructive one moderate 39 (51%). The motivation to stop to smoke according to the alteration degree in the lung function has bigger prevalence of the obstructive pattern moderated in active smokers with moderate motivation to stop to smoke. 6% (4) people have normal pattern to the espirometría. Conclution: The motivation frequency to stop to smoke is high and the alteration in the lung function with moderate obstructive pattern is bigger in the group with motivation moderates.
