SOLIZ ORTIZ, Javier y NAVIA GUTIERREZ, Sandra. EVALUACIÓN TEMPRANA DE LA FUNCIÓN MIOCÁRDICA POR ECOCARDIOGRAFÍA MEDIANTE SPECKLE TRACKING DE PACIENTES EN TRATAMIENTO CARDIOTÓXICO. Rev. Méd. La Paz [online]. 2009, vol.15, n.1, pp.19-26. ISSN 1726-8958.
Objectives: Assessment of myocardial function of patients receiving doxorubicin therapy restricted by its co-morbidity by decreased ejection fraction (EF) and fractional shortening of the left ventricle (LV). Material and Methods: We studied 45 patients, all with normal EF before treatment. In each patient by echocardiography performed three assessments: at baseline, three and six months of starting treatment. Results: Mean age 48 years oíd, 60% male. During follow up no patient showed signs of heart failure. The parameters of conventional echocardiography in evaluating myocardial function showed no significant differences with treatment. In contrast to the significant changes observed in the strain(S) and strain rate(SR). Discussion: Subclinical changes can be detected early by 2D strain Speckle Tracking, technique with high sensitivity. With a significant reduction in the S and SR. Unlike myocardial ischemia, all levels in affected by chemotherapy. Conclusions: LV myocardial function in cancer patients undergoing treatment and risk doxorubicin to heart failure, reveal that changes in LVEF were invisible to conventional echocardiography. But the assessment initial and subtle changes were detected by 2D strain with speckle tracking and were statistically significant.
