Abstract

NOVA PINEDO, Máximo  and  MAMANI SANCHEZ, Beatriz. Effect of the application of efficient microorganisms with and without the cellulose pulp contained in the baby diaper gel for the production of humus. RevActaNova. [online]. 2020, vol.9, n.5-6, pp.737-753. ISSN 1683-0789.

At present, a problem that has been dragging on is the lack of alternatives for the biodegradation of everyday waste, especially those of difficult degradation such as, is the case of baby diapers, since they are made of polyethylene (hydrogel), and it is the third item most used by man. In this sense, a study was carried out on the application of efficient microorganisms with and without the cellulose pulp contained in the baby diaper gel for the production of humus. The substrate preparation (mix) consisted of mixing in a similar proportion of beef manure and the pulp of the cellulose contained in the diaper gel, without plastic residues, or springs and adhesive bands. However, for the control (without diapers) only beef manure was incorporated. Both were divided into two parts and placed in two separate hermetic containers. In the first container, water was added; and in the other the solution of efficient microorganisms and they were closed for 15 days. Afterwards, the substrates of each treatment were poured 2 kg / box to each one of them and 50 worms were added. The results showed that efficient microorganisms favored the multiplication of worms and the reduction of decomposition time, although not in the amount of humus produced with and without the pulp of the diaper gel; Therefore, it can be assumed that worms can have metabolic activity and produce humus without any inconvenience, due to these qualities, they could be used as fertilizer in High Andean areas with a previous study of phytotoxicity.

Keywords : Biotransformation; efficient microorganisms; baby diapers; worms.
