Abstract

OROZCO, Jhenifer  and  SILES, Gustavo. Radio study and problems in a WiFi network with high user density. RevActaNova. [online]. 2019, vol.9, n.1, pp.32-52. ISSN 1683-0789.

The design and implementation of high density WiFi networks is topic of interest in wireless Communications engineering. The present paper aims to study some of the problematics of this kind of networks. With this purpose, a series of passive surveys are carried on an operating campus-based WiFi network, which provides a real evaluation scenario. The professional tool Ekahau Site Survey® has been used in order to obtain estimates of signal strength, channel overlapping and SNR. The results show the presence of co-channel interference or channel overlapping, both at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, which could lead to a degradation of the network performance.

Keywords : WiFi; WLAN; 802.11; radio Communications.
