Abstract

VILLEGAS MENDEZ, Benjamín Miguel  and  ROJAS FERNANDEZ, Marcelo Greby. BCI computer brain interface by using Emotiv Insight. RevActaNova. [online]. 2019, vol.9, n.1, pp.3-31. ISSN 1683-0789.

Currently, there are several commercial devices for the acquisition of brain electroencephalographic (EEG) biosignals in the market, each one with different benefits and possible applications in engineering, medical research, etc. The present work describes the development of a computer brain interface (BCI) using the EEG Emotiv Insight device for its technical characteristics compared to other Emotiv own models and models from other companies. They have been used as tools, an object-oriented programming language for the development of the main program that manages the intentions captured by the EEG device to apply them for some purpose, an Emotiv own application development kit to access the functions of the application programming interface and Matlab scripts for the development of a user interface and the analysis of the captured biosignals. The applications of this BCI interface range from the study of brain biosignals graphically to applications in home automation or others.

Keywords : Electroencephalography; brain computer interface; Emotiv.
