Abstract

LEDEZMA PERIZZA, Fernando Arturo. Using Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing and Data Sources Global Open Access as a tool to model water, energy and climate change in Bolivia. RevActaNova. [online]. 2012, vol.5, n.4, pp.477-520. ISSN 1683-0789.

Water assessment models generally employed, require enough information. The Plurinational State of Bolivia has a diverse spatial geography, same which is hardly represented by the weather stations that collect data in a timely manner, in many cases they are not in digital format, or have discontinuity in the series formed or make a period short years, it does not allow a prediction when the evaluation of water resources or calibrate models. This paper a modern methodology as an alternative to the limited information of the meteorological network and spatial coverage , which employs GIS , global sources of free data access products and satellite remote sensing applied to study applies the determination of regional hydroelectric potential of possible sites. Presents results of surface hydrological modeling undertaken at national level using the model Soil and Water Assessment Tool, with projected climate change scenarios to 2050 and gives general information found in the areas of water, energy and climate change in Bolivia.

Keywords : Hydro Power Potential; Climate Change; Geographic Information Systems; Global Data Access; Remote Sensing.
