Abstract
ROCHA VARGAS, Mirvia Angela; SANCHEZ PONCE, José and AZERO, Mauricio. Study of improving soil quality by using different organic amendments on potato crop (Solanumtuberosum ssp. Andigenavar. Waycha) on the Model Farm Pairumani. RevActaNova. [online]. 2012, vol.5, n.4, pp.417-444. ISSN 1683-0789.
The soil is a fundamental constituent of earth, which is commonly managed under conventional practices, which have dependent monocultures of agrochemical inputs, which, over time, can lead to a deterioration of soil quality. In Bolivia most of the farmers use these practices, however there are several institutions that are working with a more organic farming and trying to improve the soil quality. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of the application of different organic amendments on soil quality in the potato crop (Solanumtuberosum ssp. Andigena , var. Waycha ) on the Model Farm Pairumani . For this study worked with four types of organic amendments, pure manure, regular compost, compost Biodynamic compost plus a normal biological activator Solosigo. Physical, chemical and microbiological soil characteristics were analyzed, comparing their initial condition with its final status. Various agronomic parameters were also evaluated during the development of the crop. From the analysis and the various evaluations, we observed that the physical and chemical properties of soils of different treatments properties were not significantly altered after harvesting the crop, so it was possible to maintain the quality of them. Similarly one should take into account assessments with organic amendments, they need more of a culture period to show a permanent change in soil quality.
