Abstract

ESCOBAR, Fabiola; SANCHEZ PONCE, José  and  AZERO A., Mauricio. Evaluation of the composting process with different types of mixtures based on the C/N ratio and the addition of biodynamic preparations at the Pairumani Model Farm. RevActaNova. [online]. 2012, vol.5, n.3, pp.390-410. ISSN 1683-0789.

The aim of this work was to improve the process of compost in the Model Farm of Pairumani, through the elaboration of compost with an adequate initial relation of 15 C/N and the addition of biodynamic preparations. To fulfill this objective the next 8 treatments of compost were made: T1 (Manure, C/N = 15); T2 (Manure + biodynamic preparations, C/N = 15); T3 (Manure + grinded corn foliage, C/N = 25); T4 (manure + grinded corn foliage, + biodynamic preparations, C/N = 25); T5 (manure + hen droppings, C/N = 14); T6 (manure + hen droppings + biodynamic preparations, C/N = 14); T7 (manure + hen droppings + grinded corn foliage, C/N = 25); T8 (manure + hen droppings + grinded corn foliage, + biodynamic preparations, C/N = 25). During the process of compost, field and laboratory evaluations were made to determine the influence of the C/N initial relation and the addition of biodynamic preparations in the process of compost at the Pairumani Model Farm. The evaluations allowed us to observe that the treatments elaborated with a relation of 25 C/N showed a better chemical, physical and microbiological characteristics for a mature compost. On the other hand, we observed the influence of the biodynamic preparations in the thermophile stage because the treatments with biodynamic preparations showed higher temperatures than the ones without biodynamic preparations.

Keywords : Compost; C/N relation; biodynamic preparations.
