Abstract

PAREJA, Alejandro; HINOJOSA, Marcia  and  LUJAN, Marcos. Atmospheric Pollutant Release Inventory for the City of Cochabamba, Bolivia, 2008. RevActaNova. [online]. 2012, vol.5, n.3, pp.344-373. ISSN 1683-0789.

An inventory of emissions for Cochabamba was elaborated taking as study year 2008. For stationary sources and area sources we used estimates based on emission factors and activity indicators of sources, for mobile sources IVEM software was used (International Vehicle Emissions Model). It was established that the vehicle fleet is the main source of emissions, especially in terms of PM10 and NOx, as they cause 92% of the emissions of these two pollutants. The most polluting vehicles and that more occupy the streets of the city are taxis and public transport minibuses. Area sources generate little pollution but the brick industry stands by their emissions of PM10 and CO and K'ara K'ara dump for CH4 emissions. As for GHGs, the city of Cochabamba generated 1.67 millions of teq. of CO2 per year, with a rate of 2.72 per capita of teq. CO2 yr-1.

Keywords : Inventory of emissions; air pollution; GHG IVEM; Cochabamba.
