Abstract

JAIMES, Marcelo  and  GARCIA ARMADA, Ana. Energy efficiency as a SON mechanism for HSPA+ networks. RevActaNova. [online]. 2011, vol.5, n.1, pp.32-49. ISSN 1683-0789.

The operation of mobile networks incurs significant amounts of energy consumption. From a network operation point of view reduction of energy consumption is not only a matter of environmental responsibility but also reduces the operational costs and improves network performance minimizing some daily problems. In our study we apply an energy saving mechanism by means of Self-Organizing Networks (SON) functionality. We show that it is possible to reduce energy consumption and also control cell breathing bringing more Quality of Service (QoS) to the network.
