Mortality analysis provides information about the lifestyle of the population, family history, and the political, economic, and social context that leads to early death or longevity.

Objective:

Determine the mortality profile due to diabetes mellitus in the COVID-19 pandemic of the population of Bolivia during the 2020 to 2021 administrations.

Materials and Method:

It is a descriptive and cross-sectional study, we worked with the institutional data base of the population dying from diabetes according to the ICD10 classification (E10-E14), registered in the health services of Bolivia. With a total of 2,028 deaths for 2020 and 1,338 deaths for 2021, the specific mortality rates and YPLL and IAPVP rates were determined by age groups.

Results:

The mortality trend due to Diabetes was higher in 2020 than in 2021, of the total deaths, 27.1 % corresponded to the department of Santa Cruz for the 2020 administration, 38.8% of the deaths were in the department of Cochabamba in the 2021 administration. 43.9% had married marital status and 47.8% attended primary school. 51.7% of the deaths were in the home. The mortality rate from diabetes was 17 per 100,000 inhabitants in Bolivia in the 2020 administration and in the 2021 administration it was 11 per 100,000 inhabitants.

Conclusions:

The range in which the most years of life were lost was 50 to 54 years in the 2020 administration, in the 2021 administration it was the range of 55 to 59 years.
