PAYE HUANCA, EO et al. NUTRITIONAL PROFILE OF ADULT DRIVERS OF THE LITORAL MIXED PUBLIC TRANSPORT UNION OF THE CITY OF LA PAZ AND LIBERTADOR SIMÓN BOLÍVAR OF THE CITY OF EL ALTO. Cuad. - Hosp. Clín. [online]. 2025, vol.66, n.1, pp.44-56.  Epub 23-Sep-2025. ISSN 1562-6776.

The study on the nutritional profile of drivers would fill a gap in the scientific literature and could provide relevant data for future research in related areas, such as occupational health and road safety.

OBJECTIVE: Determine the nutritional profile of adult drivers of the Mixto Litoral public transport union of the city of La Paz and Libertador Simón Bolívar of the city of El Alto, 2024.

MATERIALS AND METHOD: It is a cross-sectional observational descriptive quantitative approach study. The sample size was determined with the Epi Info package version 7.2.4.0 for an expected prevalence of 50%, a reliability of 95% and a maximum error of 5%, with 335 drivers surveyed. The type of sampling was stratified probabilistic type. Validated instruments were used for data collection, Findrisk Test, 24-hour Reminder, PAHO - HEARTS of the Americas, anthropometric equipment, glucometer and digital blood pressure monitor.

RESULTS: 84.9% of drivers are overweight and obese, 63.3% have an Android-type body fat distribution, according to R24 hours, the approximate energy consumption is 1750 ±586 kcal, with a maximum intake of up to 2765 kcal. A strong positive correlation r=0.90 value p=0.000 is evident between body mass index and of risk of developing metabolic problems and a moderate positive correlation r=0.32 between waist circumference and systolic blood pressure value p= 0.012. 41.7% present a high cardiovascular risk according to PAHO - HEARTS of the Americas criteria, 48.3% present a moderate risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus according to the Findrisk test.

CONCLUSIONS: Drivers present malnutrition due to excess with risk of developing metabolic problems, cardiovascular risk and risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
