Objective:
To determine the knowledge, attitudes and practices on healthy eating in schoolchildren who attend the fiscal and agreement educational units of the Municipality of La Paz, 2022.
Materials and method:
Descriptive, observational, cross-sectional study in 797 schoolchildren from the Municipality of La Paz. The sample size was determined with the Epi Info v.7.2.4.0 package. The sampling was of the two-stage probabilistic type in the first stage by conglomerates and in the second in a stratified manner. To determine the knowledge, attitudes and practices on healthy eating, a survey was developed following the criteria proposed by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, FAO.
Results:
90% of the schoolchildren presented insufficient knowledge about healthy eating, 83.1% of the schoolchildren presented favorable attitudes about the importance of healthy eating, 68% of the schoolchildren presented adequate practices on healthy eating, 54.6% of the Students buy food at the educational unit. 49.8% purchase processed and ultra-processed food products.
Conclusions:
The students of the educational units of the municipality of La Paz presented insufficient knowledge and practices about healthy eating.
