Abstract Objetive: To determine food safety at home and its relationship with the body composition of schoolchildren who attend the Sport Schools of the Cotahuma District of the Municipal Autonomous Government of the city of La Paz, 2020. Method and Instruments: Cross-sectional study with an analytical component in 65 athletes. Determining food safety in the home and its relationship with body composition through anthropometric measurements using the ISAK protocol. Physical conditions were identified: strength, flexibility and endurance. Results: 58.5% ofthe households had food security, the rest with some degree of insecurity. A large part of the schoolchildren presented a normal nutritional state, with respect to the brachial muscle area, 40% at home with excess, and, 9% normal and food security in it. According to percentage of body fat, most have normal deposits. Ofthe 4.6% of athletes who had obesity, 1.5% corresponded to food security and food insecurity level and severe respectively. Of the 3.1% of the schoolchildren who had a low brachial muscle area, 1.5% had level and severe food insecurity. Food safety is associated with body composition (p value <0.05) and an OR: 5 with a CI of 1.5 to 17.6. Conclusions: The athletes with the best body composition were in artistic gymnastics and table tennis. Schoolchildren with food security at home are 5 times more likely to have adequate body composition compared to households without food security
