Abstract Philosophical axiology is initially reviewed: concept, historical development and axiological theories. It deals with the issue of values: definition, classification and hierarchy. We enter to medical axiology, concept and historical development. The value system and functions of the medical profession are reviewed: moral, cognitive and cultural values.
