Abstract

CLAROS, Nataniel; PONCE, Ramiro; LAGUNA, Roger  and  ZEGARRA, Moira. Efectos adversos mediatos postoperatorios asociados a funduplicatura laparoscópica tipo Nissen Rossetti. Cuad. - Hosp. Clín. [online]. 2008, vol.53, n.1, pp.20-24. ISSN 1562-6776.

Aim To establish the prevalence and the causes of the postoperative mediate complications in a group of patients operated with a Nissen Rossetti laparoscopic funduplicature and to present an analysis on the subject. Material and Methods We present a cross sectional study of patients over 18 years of age who were diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux disease based on clinical symptoms, endoscopic, manometric and pHmetric exams, and who were admitted to the Hospital Obrero Nº 1 of the Caja Nacional de Salud in La Paz, Bolivia, during the period from October 1998 to December 2007: All patients underwent surgery with a Nissen Rosetti laparoscopic fundiduplicature. No exclusion criteria were applied. Results Of the 56 potential patients for laparoscopic surgery, it was necessary to change to the open procedure in 2 cases (conversion prevalence of 3.57%), for this reason 54 patients are analysed. The average age was 37.77 ± 14.5 years(range 18 - 78), 34 (62.96%) of whom were males. The total of the patients had heartburn and regurgitation at least once a week, 2 patients (3.7%) had dysphagia, and 4 (7.40%) had chest pain; one patient (1.85%) had asthma and another a skin allergy (1.85%). The DeMeester score was 67.7 ± 25.3 (range 35 to167). The prevalence of mediate complications was 5.55% (3 patients), one had severe gastric paresia, another Mallory Weiss syndrome and the third had fundical gastric ulcer. Mortality was 0. Conclusion The mediate postoperative complications are less frequent than the later ones, but when these appear they have greater implications and must be recognized and known.
