The clinical case of a patient wirh of hyperthyroidism and pregnancy is presented, treated with antithyroid drugs and betablocker, with appropriate response, however the fetus died at he 18 weeks of pregnancy. We discuss the probable causes of the death, as well as the relevancy of the antithyroid drugs used and the therapeutic alternatives in these circumstances. The metabolic dysfunction in are also analyzed uncontrolled hyperthyroidism and their possible maternal and fetal complications. The antithyroid treatment is the most effective and without complications if used correctly. Surgery is considered as asecond line optionandthe administrationof iodine 131 isclearly contraindicated. We concluded that it is necessary to compensate appropriately and in a quick way the patient pregnant and with hyperthyroidism, to avoid the probable complications of the thyrotoxicosis to the mother and fetus.
