CALZADILLA-TOMIANOVICH, Miki Hernan  e  CAYOLA, Leslie. Floristic Composition and Structure of an Andean foot hill forest in the Madidi Protected Area, La Paz - Bolivia. Ecología en Bolivia [online]. 2006, vol.41, n.2, pp.117-129. ISSN 1605-2528.

A 1 ha plot was installed in the Amazon forest of the Área Natural de Manejo Integrado Madidi. All trees with a DBH > 10 cm were recorded. A total of 587 individuals, distributed in 137 species, 103 genera, and representing 42 families were found. The most diverse family was Fabaceae with 14 species in six genera, followed by Euphorbiaceae (12 species, 9 genera), Rubiaceae (9 species, 7 genera), and Arecaceae (9 species, 8 genera). The species of major ecological importance was Iriartea deltoidea (Arecaceae) with an IVI of 12.58%. Plants found in this study are typical of the Amazonian foothill forest like in other works of Bolivia and other countries (Peru and Ecuador). Several species and families are shared with forests of Peru and Ecuador. The diversity is less than the one that was found in Ecuador and fall in the lower range of what is established for Peru. This indicates a tendency of decreasing diversity with increasing distance to the equatorial line.

Palavras-chave : National Park; Amazon forest; structure; floristic composition.
