Abstract

BUSTAMANTE, Zulema  and  RUIZ, M. Cristina. Cauchi (Suaeda foliosa) nutrients, forage of the central Altiplano of Bolivia. Ecología en Bolivia [online]. 1988, n.12, pp.29-37.  Epub Nov 29, 1998. ISSN 1605-2528.

Cauchi is a foraging plant which contains enough nutrients, specially protein, but we can also find in it good quantities of phosphorus and calcium. This forage shows itself as an alternative for local cattle feeding during the dry winter season since it is found green during the whole year. Also, because it is a plant with high water contents, it is a good forage for prairies with a low water availability.
