Abstract

MIRANDA CALVET, Jahiro Damian  and  MANSUR, Webe. Numerical modelling to study the subsoil of urban regions using seismic interferometry methods. Revista Boliviana de Física [online]. 2018, vol.32, n.32, pp.3-11. ISSN 1562-3823.

ABSTRACT Measurements based on seismic interferometry can be used to constantly monitor urban noise produced by and transmitted through a variety of sources and media, such as, rail tracks, road traffic and civil constructions. Geophones with the ability to record for long peri-ods of time, measure the noise of each seismic source. Applying the cross-correlation method to the acquired measurements we obtain the retrieved reflection of the seismic wave and the stratum of the studied region. The quality of the data depends on the distribution of the sources, the recorded time and the wavelength of each source. To study the relationship of these variables computational modelling of a seismic survey was carried out on three geolog-ical models related to the "Prefeito Marcello Alencar" tunnel in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. For each model, the results obtained were compared between a single seismic source and multi-sources. Results demonstrate the potential of the survey method and how it could contribute to the prevention of urban risks.

Keywords : Interferometry; seismic methods; spectral methods.
