ABSTRACT Using the Oregonator as a model for the Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction, we studied the synchronization process of two identical oscillators with diagonal bidirectional coupling. We analyzed the stability of the synchronous regime in terms of the largest transversal Lyapunov exponent by considering the coupling strength as the main parameter. We identified the sequence perturbation-regulation-adjustment both for the system's self-organization and for its maintenance when it is perturbed.
