Abstract

VILCA SALINAS, Rudy. THE TÚPAC KATARI SATELLITE ORBIT. Revista Boliviana de Física [online]. 2014, vol.24, n.24, pp.99-101. ISSN 1562-3823.

From December 20 (2013) on, the Bolivian satellite Túpac Katari is orbiting Earth in a geostationary orbit at a 36000 km height (as it was publicly informed by different media). Why is it orbiting at such a height? Could it be orbiting at a different height? In this work we deduce the specific height at which a geostationary satellite must be orbiting by applying elementary laws of mechanics
