Abstract

K., LESLIE et al. SOLAR ULTRA VIOLET RADIATION MEASUREMENTS IN THE MUNICIPIO DE SICA SICA. Revista Boliviana de Física [online]. 2012, vol.21, n.21, pp.1-5. ISSN 1562-3823.

We determined an increase in ultraviolet radiation (UVR) in the Aroma province found in the Bolivian Altiplano (or Bolivian high plateau) near La Paz and compartid to UVR levels in La Paz city. Simultaneous measurements were taken at Sica Sica (southern La Paz departamento; 3917m asl) and at the Laboratorio de Física de la Atmósfera (La Paz city; 3430m asl). Due to this increase in radiation we carried out workshops and alert campaigns using local and national radio stations; we also distributed 2900 caps to school children at Sica Sica, as well as banners to schools explaining the hazards of UVR.
