Objectives: To determine the adverse effects of the use of dipyrone in the treatment of patients with dengue fever warning signs compared with paracetamol, clinical and laboratory level. Methods: A randomized clinical trial conducted in the period from January to March 2013 in hospitalized patients diagnosed with dengue with warning signs. Results: 79 patients entered the study, 62% male, with an average age of 8.55 years. 23 patients received patients received dipyrone and 56 paracetamol as a treatment for fever, there were no statistical differences between groups in terms of sex, inpatient days and days of medication. 2 patients had clinically gingivorragia with equal distribution between groups and 1 patient presented epistaxis, in both mild cases without hemodynamic repercussions. In the laboratory was striking the count decreased total neutrophilic granulocytes in the dipyrone group but no significant statistical difference with subsequent recovery, also transaminases in the dipyrone group rose by about paracetamol senior group, but no statistical difference significantly, no accompanying symptoms. In other laboratory parameters were no significant alterations. Conclusion: Dipyrone is a reasonably safe alternative for the treatment of patients with dengue fever with fewer side effects without significant clinical impact.
