Streptococcal infection of the pharynges and tonsils is one of the more frequent causes of pediatric consultation and it is very important the rapid identification and treatment of the disease, to avoid the severe associated complications. We have done the "rapid strept test" in 16 suspected patients and found 62% of positive results, confirmed by cultures. This is an easy and rapid test for pediatric patients seen in remote areas.
