Abstract

VARGAS-ROCHA, Vladimir Erik; SEGALES-ROJAS, Patricia  and  VARGAS ROCHA, Brian E.. Immune System, SARS-CoV-2 Infection and Development of COVID-19. Gac Med Bol [online]. 2021, vol.44, n.2, pp.249-253. ISSN 1012-2966.  https://doi.org/10.47993/gmb.v44i2.47.

We present the case of a 55 year old male patient with pain in the right dorsal lumbar region, filiform hematuria, a contrasted abdominopelvic tomography was performed, showing a tumor in the right renal pelvis. An open radical right nephrectomy was performed. Returning again with hematuria, cystoscopy, ureteroscopy and selective cytology were performed, documenting local recurrence in the right ureter. A radical right ureterectomy was performed with laparoscopic bladder encirclement and extended lymphadenectomy, with histopathological report of right ureter with low-grade urothelial carcinoma, with subsequent satisfactory evolution and in surveillance. This article is intended to emphasize that adequate training, experience and practice in laparoscopic surgery can achieve excellent oncologic and aesthetic results, similar to open surgery, with the benefit of a quick recovery and less pain and bleeding. Therefore, we believe that with practice and patience, laparoscopic oncologic surgery after open surgery is perfectly feasible.

Keywords : urology; medical oncology; laparoscopy.
