Resumen

COPANA OLMOS, Raul Rafael  y  MELEAN CAMACHO, Luis Gonzalo. Hyponatremia in postoperative patients at the Children's Hospital Manuel Ascencio Villarroel, Cochabamba, Bolivia. Gac Med Bol [online]. 2014, vol.37, n.1, pp.20-22. ISSN 1012-2966.

The maintenance fluid therapy is the intravenous administration of water and electrolytes to meet the requirements of the patient, for which calculations are performed and specific osmolarity solutions are used in the course of hospitalization. Objectives: the aim of the study is to evaluate the factors related to fluid therapy in patients undergoing post contribute to the presentation of hyponatremia. Methods: for which a case-control study, consisting of 21 patients in the first group and 30 in the second was established; thereof comprising similar characteristics in terms of age, weight, body surface area, service income and type of surgery, being comparable groups, statistical analyzes were performed using SPSS v22. Results: regarding the use solutions can be observed that the calculation of water volumes for 24 hours at high presentation contributes hyponatremia (p 0.013, OR 2.6), not the non adecuamiento international guidelines (p 0.49; OR 2.2), or the use of hypotonic solutions (p 0.797, OR 1.43), or the use of water use charges (p 0.969, OR 1.02); is also remarkable to note that the most commonly used maintenance solutions do not match the recommended requirements, underestimate the caloric intake and overestimate the contribution hidricoelectrolítico. Conclusions: so it is concluded that a good estimate, adaptation and monitoring of electrolytic water intake is necessary, identifying each case and trying to avoid complications related to fluid.

Palabras clave : hyponatremia; fluid therapy; postoperative complications.
