Abstract

The history of curricular changes in medical career at the Universidad Mayor de San Simón, institution of higher education in state public character of Bolivia, during the period between 1967 and 2002, reflects the socio-political vicissitudes of the country. The characteristics and changes of the curriculum are described, showing the dynamics históricade medical education, fluctuating between traditional educational approaches, cutting of Flexner and innovative approaches to social and community components marked. The article describes these changes from different experiential looks, concluding with lessons learned, in the hope that it will be useful in the educational future of our faculty.
