Abstract
DE PARDO GHETTI, Evelin Marcelle. Helicobacter Pylori: A present-day problem. Gac Med Bol [online]. 2013, vol.36, n.2, pp.108-111. ISSN 1012-2966.
Helicobacter pylori is a Gram negative bacterium, studied in the last three decades, because they can produce gastrointestinal disor-ders, such as chronic gastritis, gastroduodenal ulcers, gastric cancers and MALT lymphomas. The purpose of this article is to review the concepts known about its pathogenesis, clinical Helicobacter infection in children. The nonspecific signs and symptoms depend on the age at which the infection is contracted, ranging from complications of gastric atrophy cells (if the infection occurred before five years of age) or metaplasia of gastric cells and an inflammatory process in duodenum, at the age of five. Highlight the fact that the infection contracted early (before two years of life) may subside spontaneously, where breastfeeding so probably curse a key role. It can remain asymptomatic for many years or become manifest in adulthood with dyspepsia, gastritis or other symptoms. In children, the bacterial infection, produce a natural decrease of the immune defense system which are the gastric juices, in turn allowing the entry of pathogens such as viruses, bacteria such as Salmonella, parasites, such as Giardia lamblia. It is well seen on multiple studies, the association between Helicobacter and pondo estatural delay in children, protein losing enteropathy and recurrent diarrhea or recurrent abdominal pain, difficult to treat infections.
