Late preterm infants often show a similar size and weight for term infants and children may be treated as healthy and low risk of disease, but it is a group that represents 9% of all births and the likelihood of developing a neonatal medical complications is four times greater than that of a child to term. A review of books and articles pediatric six different coun-tries, the literature also documents an increase in morbidity and mortality significactivo. All carne to the conclusión that late preterm newborns are physiologically and metabolically immature, presenting the most common complications fo-llowed by respiratory diseases metabolic problems, hyperbilirubinemia. Despite the published evidence, there is still a strong perception among neonatologists and obstetricians of the impact of late preterm mean rates for neonatal morbidity and mortality.
