Chlamydia infection is the sexually transmitted bacterial disease most common in the world: 90 million new cases are reported each year, is a health problem that causes reproductive damage. Infected women are rarely aware of this disease, since it produces a picture asymptomatic. During pregnancy can cause pre term labor threat, premature rupture of membranes or chorioamnionitis. We conducted a study that described the characteristics of this disease in our environment and used a diagnostic tool in patients diagnosed by means of immunochromatography, in a simple and accessible: WBC per field in smears of endocervical secretions, obtaining that the prevalence C. trachomatis infection in pregnant women diagnosed is 9%. 100% of the smears of endocervical secretions infected with C. trachomatis, had more than 10 cells per field. 41% of pregnant women who have C trachomatis infection, enrolled pregnancies under 20 weeks and 58% come from rural áreas. 50% of patients with HIV infection, presented as main symptoms vaginal discharge and 33% had no symptoms. 75% of pregnant women infected with C. trachomatis was 20 to 30 years, 40% included only nitrofurantoin for the treatment and 17% did not receive any other medication. Thus, the leukocyte count per field in smears of endocervical secretions may be socialized among the health centers have no other specific diagnostic methods for Chlamydia trachomatis.
