Abstract
BUSTAMANTE GARCIA, Zulema and CLAROS, Mireya. Molecular Typification of Extrapulmonary Mycobacterium tuberculosis in Cochabamba. Gac Med Bol [online]. 2009, vol.32, n.2, pp.01-05. ISSN 1012-2966.
Extrapulmonary tuberculosis can affect several organs and tissues other than the lungs. The genotypes found in this type of tuberculosis, but the genotypes found in this type of tuberculosis are not known in Bolivia. The purpose of this paper is to identify the genotypes of Mycobacterium tuberculosis that are most often found and their association with various forms of extrapulmonary tuberculosis. 31 isolates from the Technical School in Health were analyzed applying the IS6110 PCR method which is based on polymorphism adjacent to the insertion sequence IS6110 and making use of the polimerase chain reaction. It was noticed that the greater number of isolates comes from urine samples and a high genetic variability was determined with 16 different genotypes, 3 of them being prevalent. It was also observed that in urinary tuberculosis, two genotypes are more common. The prevalent genotypes found in extrapulmonary tuberculosis are different from the isolates found in pulmonary tuberculosis. However some genotype profiles already described for pulmonary Mycobacterium tuberculosis were also observed
