Resumen

A retrospective and prospective study was carried out at the National Social Security, at the University Social Security and in private clinics within April 1997 and March 2007. This study was about the surgical treatment of groin, crural and relapsal hernias by the Lichtenstein technique modified by our group. 110 patients went under operation 94 (85%) out of them were male and 16 (15%) female with a 6:1 ratio. Due to the topic complexity it was studied from the concept, age, sex, anatomy, clinic description, related pathology, laboratory support, diagnosis, a detailed description of our technique with squemes, morbid - mortality, furthermore a follow up through a protocol and with a 0 % of relapse hernia. Finally, it can be concluded that the Lichtenstein technique modified by our group is a very important contribution and the best option for the surgical treatment of groin, crural, relapsal hernias.
