Abstract

The investigation has the objective of studying the degree of adaptability and family cohesion besides the social support with which homosexual people count in the city of Cochabamba. Thís study has a descriptive design of traverse court. The data were tabulated and processed by the percentual method for each category. The analysis unit is the homosexual person. The Instruments of Family Medicine were applied: FACES III and DUKE UNC. We carried out 52 surveys through interviews to homosexuals from different social stratum of the city. The results shown that of 56% of these people, their families ignore their sexual orientation, of this result, 61% has good global index of social support. Only 35% responds that its friendships belong exclusively to its community, of this low percentage of friendships, 65% offers good social support. The social support with which these people count it is independent of the knowledge of the sexual orientation. The type of predominant family adaptability is flexible. Detached it is the type of predominant family cohesion.
