Development of a regeneration method for a zeolite used in pressure swing adsorption (PSA) processes to concentrate oxygen from the air.A discarded sample of a commercial adsorbent (ZD) used in an oxygen concentration process was collected for its regeneration by the following methods: i) pressure swing desorption (PSA), ii) combining heat and vacuum desorption (TSA-VSA), iii) inert gas heat application by temperature and pressure swing (TSA-PSA) and iv) sodium (Na+) for lithium (Li+) ion exchange followed by regeneration of the material using the TSA-PSA. The sample was chemically and structurally characterized by the XRD, SEM, EDS, and BET techniques. The results indicate that the sample (ZD) is a zeolite X and that its main structure remains intact. The regeneration process of the sample reached an efficiency of up to 75% by the method iv) suggesting that this material could be reusable in its original application.
