Abstract

MALAVE GOMEZ, Adonis A.; MERCHAN BRAVO, Madelaine S.; QUEVEDO PINOS, Olga L.  and  REVELO RAMIREZ, Willan E.. Pruebas con hidrotalcita patente “WO2010/008262 AL” para el tratamiento de agua acidulada. Rev. Bol. Quim [online]. 2024, vol.41, n.2, pp.1-9. Tests with hydrotalcite patent “WO2010/008262 AL” for the treatment of acidulated water. The patent “WO 2010/008262 AL” was used with hydrotalcite in acidified reference, control and submarine battery waters of the Ecuadorian Navy. The objective was to reduce the levels of sulfate ions and DQO in the waste water for safe discharge. The methodology was adjusted to the conditions and possibilities of materials, equipment, and reagents. In a stoichiometric manner, the required amount of Mg(OH)2 was determined to be 40.2 g compared to 4.86 g of Al2(SO4)3. The synthesis of hydrotalcite for the treatment of acidified water was determined with three grams of these, activated at 450 °C. 200 ml of acidulated water could be neutralized by varying the pH from 0 - 1 to 7 - 8, with a non-detectable DQO. The presence of sulfate ions between 14,600 - 17,000 mg/l demonstrated that these ions were not able to move from the reference and control waters.
