Obtaining activated carbon from PET plastics waste mixtures due to phosphoric acid activation. This study proposes to obtain activated carbon from plastic residues composed of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and phosphoric acid through chemical pre-treatment in a mass ratio of PET: H3PO4, 1: 1 and 1: 4, followed of a thermal pre-treatment. The activated carbon was obtained by a pyrolytic reaction at temperatures between 450 ° C and 600 ° C. Process times varied between 1 to 4 hours in a batch tubular reactor. The material obtained was washed to remove surpluses of phosphoric acid. Finally, the specific surface area was determined by means of a nitrogen physis analysis. This was calculated by the Single Point Bet method. A statistical empirical model from applied experimental design was obtained and, it was determined that, in the best experimental conditions, specific surface areas of 1100 to 1250 m2/g can be obtained. *Mail to: rsurculento@umsa.bo
