Abstract

CHOQUE FLORES, Valerio; CASTANETA, Heriberto; AJPI, Cesario  and  BLANCO, Mario. Estudio de la adsorción de ion Mg (II) en suelos de cultivo del sector Yucumo-San Borja del departamento del Beni, Bolivia. Rev. Bol. Quim [online]. 2023, vol.40, n.3, pp.1-10. Study of the adsorption of Mg (II) ion in crop soils of the Yucumo-San Borja sector of the department of Beni, Bolivia. The adsorption of Mg (II) in cultivated soils from Yucumo-San Borja, Beni, Bolivia was studied by means of the different models of adsorption isotherms. Likewise, an analysis of the soil texture, the percentage of organic matter and organic carbon was carried out. The cultivation soil was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and surface area Brounauer Emmer Teller (BET). The results of the adsorption of Mg2+ at 3, 7, and 15 days obey an L-type model according to the Giles classification. These results, after linear regression were assigned to a Langmuir-type behavior with a maximum adsorption capacity between 1.1-1.41 mg Mg2+/g soil. A theoretical study of the interaction of Mg2+ with water molecules was also carried out using the Hyperchem Professional 8.0 program, using a semi-empirical ZINDO-1 method. The results indicated an octahedral environment of Mg2+ by solvation with water molecules allowing to predict the spontaneity of the adsorption process. In addition, the MATERIALS STUDIO 8.0 program was able to visualize the adsorption process of Mg2+ in a SiO2 unit cell. *Mail to: valeriorenechoqueflores@gmail.com
