Resumen

UBERHUAGA, Alejandro et al. Diseño de un reactor cilindro-parabólico compuesto (CPC) para la oxidación fotocatalítica de cianuro en medio acuoso. Rev. Bol. Quim [online]. 2023, vol.40, n.1, pp.21-40. ISSN 0250-5460.  https://doi.org/10.34098/2078-3949.40.1.3.

Compound parabolic concentrator (CPC) development for the photocatalytic oxidation of cyanide in aqueous medium. A Compound Parabolic Concentrator (CPC) reactor was developed based on a kinetic study to establish parameters for cyanide removal by heterogeneous photocatalysis, at laboratory scale. In the kinetic verification test, the kCN value obtained had a variation of 18.52% with respect to the value estimated by the mathematical model (kCN=0.0367 min-1). An accumulated energy per unit volume of 39.76 kJ/L was required to remove cyanide up to a concentration equivalent to the permissible limit for daily discharges according to RASIM and RMCH of Law No. 1333 on the environment. The dimensions of the pilot scale CPC reactor are: 0.553 m2 of total area and 20 liters of treatment capacity. The solar collectors have a dimension of: 12.29 cm wide, 5.26 cm high, 1.35 cm peak height and 39.11 mm external diameter of receiver tube. A time of 264.98 minutes was determined for the system to reduce cyanide concentrations from 10 mg/L to a minimum of 0.20 mg/L present in water. The maximum temperature reached by the system was 26.28 ºC at UV- A radiation of 49.98 W/m2, and 31.55 ºC when the latter was increased to 51.3 W/m2. An optical efficiency of 86.36% was calculated, which favored the incidence of UV solar rays until reaching the heart of the circulating liquid. The power needed to transport the fluid through the system was 8.20 W (0.011 HP) to ensure a full turbulent regime.
